Author Visit

Dawn  McMillan  came  to  visit  us.  She  told  how  she  writes  and  publishes  her   wonderful books.

Emily  was  inspired  to  write  this  story  at  home:

"There  was  once  a  dog  named  Poppy.  He  was  a  war  dog.  He  helped  the  people  if  they  were  hurt.  He  licked  them  and  fetched  for  help.  If  they  died  Poppy  would  howl.  I  was  sad  hearing  him  howl.  Only  a  bit  of  people  survived.  Poppy  was  happy  for  them but  not  happy  for  the  other  people who  died.  Luckily  his  owner  survived  and  Poppy  was  so  happy  for  him."

Learning with Rods

New  Zealand  also  used  awesome  team  work.

The  Ranfurly  Shield  is  for  rugby.  The  winning  team  gets  to  take  the   shield  home  to  their  region.

The  shield  is  cool  because  it  is  shiny  and  has  little  shields  with  names  on  them.

We  hope  that  we  win  the   Ranfurly  Shield  for  the  Waikato!

The Big Block of Chocolate

We  have  been  reading  the  "The  Big  Block  of  Chocolate"  story  in  class.

We  have  also  written  our  own  stories  about  a   big  block  of  chocolate.

Enjoy  reading  some  of  our  stories!

In   my  story  I  got  a  big  block  of  nice  chocolate  at  the  beach.  I  ate  two  pieces  of  it  and  then  I  dropped  it  in  the  water.  Then  one  crab  popped  out  of  the  water.  He  came  and  stole  it!  The  crab  ran  on  land.  Then  I  tried  to  get  the  chocolate  off  him.  He  was  too  fast  and  I  tripped  over  a  shell.  So  he  ate  all  of  the  chocolate  with  his  friends.
